Artie Facts

The images in this set and indeed the whole album ‘Swedish Camera Club’ are very much about a lesson of learning. In an attempt to move closer towards the true essence of analogue photography the Olympus Pen EE series ‘point and shoot’ cameras I typically use for my triptych studies were retired to the display cabinet and simple but solidly built Olympus Pen-S was summoned for the shutter work.
Without the mechanical automation marvels of the Maitani’s electric eye exposure system and the focus free fixed lenses that accompanies the Pen EE models, I did have to work harder to obtain a sharp focus and a decent exposure on the Pen-S.
Set the focus distance. Set the shutter speed. Set the aperture. Press the shutter release. These steps all sound simple enough but growing up in a world of automation and obliging machines calculating and compensating for correctness, I had much to learn.
So I learned to count in feet. Judge distances by eye and chant ancient mantras from the book of Sunny 16.

I can't agree with you more. In a world of automation, electronics and AI, photography will be irrelevant.
That ritual of placing the cannister in the camera, hearing that unmistakable click sound are things of the past, but there are still some nostalgic people like us who insist on the fantasy and enchantment of this silver nitrate chemistry. By the way, thank you very much for your comments, because they are the ones that remind us that we are alive. Regards.
